Room to Grow Podcast with Emily Gough

Aug 21, 2018

Consistency.

It's the biggest issue I hear from people.  I ask a couple of questions as women request to join the Room to Grow Facebook group, and the most popular response I receive is that consistency is the biggest issue holding them back from reaching their goals, particularly when it comes to nutrition.

It makes total sense, because it's a little too easy to break promises to ourselves, put ourselves last, procrastinate, allow other things to get in the way, and fall off course.

What I know for sure is that without consistency, success will be.....extremely difficult, at best.

In this episode, we're breaking down what consistency even means (as in, how often do you actually have to get things "right" to consider yourself consistent), what it takes to actually build consistency into your life, and creating new habits.

Imagine finally being free of a constant running tally in your head with all the things you're trying to accomplish and not taking any action on.  Some of those things may have been on your to-do list for years. Resolutions that have fallen by the wayside, promises to yourself broken, and many Monday do-overs that have come and gone.

Building consistency is a simple process, although it's going to take a commitment from you to get there.

Plus, as always on the Room to Grow Podcast, we're talking self compassion, because sometimes life is going to get in the way of consistency.  Not only that, but creating consistency doesn't happen overnight.  It's a practice and we have to treat it accordingly and not expect results immediately.

That's both the best and the most frustrating part around consistency: it's going to take time.

If you want to become more consistent, I've laid out five specific steps to help you get there, and put together this guide to help you FINALLY start taking consistent action, whether that's with your nutrition or changing up your daily habits.

Plus, I'm sharing a story that an Olympian told me recently about body image issues.  My full interview with her will be coming up on Thursday for episode #21, stay tuned! New episodes every Tuesday and Thursday.
